This past Saturday evening, a guy I worked with passed away.
We all found out the next morning. His dad called my manager to let us know and told her all he could before breaking down, who could blame him. The cause is undetermined at this point. It happened sometime after dinner. He was only 44 and seemed in good health. He rode his bike to work everyday and always kept busy. He will be missed. Both his parents mentioned how he always liked going to work and how he enjoyed working with all of us. There was only 6 of us there. It's a really sad and weird situation. It's been hard letting it all sink in. We brought flowers and a card over to their house and are waiting for the service to be scheduled.
I've lost two grandparents. One when I was still pretty young, so I didn't really understand it all and we didn't have a chance to be close. The other one was injured at a nursing home and digressed way to soon. So again I wasn't able to be close with her. Of course i love my family and it was hard. It's different this time though. Here's someone whom I saw and talked to 5 times a week.
As the days pass it's becoming a little easier to accept, but then we come across notes at work or his numbers in the roladex.
This will be the first service I have gone to as well. With my grandfather we had a dinner, but again I was too young. With my grandmother, there was no service, my mum and aunt took their ashes to the mountains and spread them.
